Description
Teneligliptin Tablets IP 20 mg are oral antidiabetic medications used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. As a DPP-4 inhibitor, teneligliptin helps regulate blood sugar by enhancing the action of incretin hormones, leading to improved insulin secretion and reduced glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner. It is effective both as monotherapy and in combination with other antidiabetic drugs, with a low risk of hypoglycemia when used appropriately.
Mechanism of Action:
Teneligliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). These hormones increase insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. By prolonging incretin activity, teneligliptin helps improve postprandial and fasting blood glucose levels without significantly increasing the risk of hypoglycemia.
