Description
Tadalafil Tablets IP 2.5 mg are low-dose oral tablets used primarily for the once-daily treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and/or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This low-dose formulation is designed for daily use, rather than on-demand use, providing a continuous level of the drug in the bloodstream to support spontaneous sexual activity.
Mechanism of Action:
Tadalafil selectively inhibits phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), an enzyme that breaks down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). By preventing cGMP degradation, tadalafil promotes smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow to specific areas, including the corpus cavernosum (penile tissue) and the prostate/bladder region. This leads to improved erectile function and relief of urinary symptoms.
Indication:
- Erectile Dysfunction (ED) – Used as a once-daily low-dose treatment to enable spontaneous sexual activity.
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) – Helps relieve urinary symptoms associated with prostate enlargement.
- ED with BPH – Approved for treating both conditions concurrently.
