Description

Prednisolone Acetate Ophthalmic Suspension is a sterile, anti-inflammatory corticosteroid solution for ophthalmic (eye) use. It is primarily prescribed to treat inflammation of the eye caused by infections, injury, surgery, or other conditions. This medication helps to reduce redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort in the eye by inhibiting the body’s inflammatory response.

Active Ingredient (Prednisolone Acetate): A synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory properties.

Inactive Ingredients: May include benzalkonium chloride (as preservative), edetate disodium, polysorbate 80, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate, hydrochloric acid/sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), and purified water.

Mechanism of Action:

Prednisolone Acetate works by inhibiting multiple inflammatory cytokines, suppressing the normal immune response to various stimuli. When applied to the eye, it penetrates ocular tissues and acts on the conjunctiva and cornea to reduce swelling, capillary dilation, leukocyte infiltration, and the formation of scar tissue or granulation.

It is especially effective in conditions where immune-mediated inflammation can cause damage to ocular structures.

Key Features:

  • Fast and effective relief from eye inflammation
  • Trusted corticosteroid formula
