Description
Fradiomycin Sulphate Cream is a topical antibiotic used to treat a variety of mild to moderate bacterial skin infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and is effective against a range of gram-positive bacteria. The cream is applied 2–3 times daily and is generally well tolerated, though prolonged use or application over large areas should be avoided to reduce the risk of resistance and toxicity. It is often used in combination with other agents for more complex skin infections.
Mechanism of Action:
Fradiomycin (neomycin B) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that works by binding to bacterial ribosomal RNA, interfering with protein synthesis. This leads to bacterial cell death. It is bactericidal, especially effective against gram-positive and some gram-negative organisms.
Uses: Fradiomycin Sulphate Cream is used to treat:
Primary and secondary bacterial skin infections, including:
- Impetigo
- Infected eczema or dermatitis
- Minor cuts, wounds, burns, and abrasions
- Infected insect bites or stings
- Folliculitis
- Superficial pyodermas (pus-forming skin infections)
- Often combined with corticosteroids (e.g., hydrocortisone) or antifungals for mixed infections involving inflammation or fungi.
