Description
Escitalopram Tablets IP 10 mg are an effective SSRI antidepressant used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and panic disorder. By selectively increasing serotonin levels in the brain, escitalopram helps improve mood and reduce anxiety symptoms.
Mechanism of Action:
Escitalopram is the S-enantiomer of citalopram and acts by selectively inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) at the neuronal synapse, increasing serotonin availability in the central nervous system. This enhances serotonergic neurotransmission, which helps improve mood and reduce anxiety.
Uses:
Escitalopram Tablets IP 10 mg are prescribed for the treatment of:
- Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- Panic Disorder (with or without agoraphobia)
- Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) (in some regions)
