Description
Tadalafil Tablets IP 5 mg is a prescription medication used for the treatment of:
- Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- ED with BPH (combined symptoms)
Mechanism of action:
Tadalafil selectively inhibits the PDE5 enzyme in the corpus cavernosum (penis), prostate, and bladder tissues. This causes an increase in cGMP (cyclic guanosine monophosphate), leading to smooth muscle relaxation and enhanced blood flow:
- In ED: Improves ability to get and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation.
- In BPH: Relieves urinary symptoms like frequent urination, urgency, or weak stream by relaxing smooth muscles in the bladder and prostate.
