Description
Luliconazole and Salicylic Acid Cream combines a potent antifungal (luliconazole) with a keratolytic agent (salicylic acid) to effectively treat fungal skin infections, especially those involving thick or scaly skin. It helps kill the fungus while enhancing skin turnover, improving absorption and treatment outcomes.
Mechanism of Action:
- Luliconazole: Inhibits the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, disrupting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This results in fungal cell death.
- Salicylic Acid: Acts as a keratolytic, helping to soften and remove dead skin, enhancing the penetration of luliconazole and improving treatment efficacy. It also has mild antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Uses:
This cream is used for the topical treatment of:
- Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body)
- Tinea cruris (jock itch)
- Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
- Tinea manuum (fungal infection of the hands)
- Fungal infections with hyperkeratosis (thickened or scaling skin)
- Chronic or stubborn dermatophyte infections
