Description
Bromfenac Ophthalmic Solution 0.09% w/v is a sterile, topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used in ophthalmology to reduce postoperative inflammation and relieve eye pain in patients undergoing cataract surgery. It contains Bromfenac Sodium, a potent NSAID that works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, specifically COX-2, which are involved in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins—key mediators of inflammation, pain, and swelling in the eye.
The 0.09% strength is designed to offer once or twice daily dosing, providing effective anti-inflammatory relief with high ocular penetration and good tolerability. Its use leads to reduced redness, swelling, pain, and photophobia commonly experienced after eye surgery.
Indications:
- Treatment of postoperative inflammation and reduction of ocular pain in patients undergoing cataract surgery.
- Treatment of non-infectious anterior uveitis.
- Management of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis symptoms
- Cystoid macular edema (CME) prevention in high-risk patients post-surgery
